Process chillers have been in use for decades. New technology brings increased efficiency to the industry.
Increased efficiency directly affects the profit margin. Firstly, lower energy costs and secondly decreased water usage result in increased profit.
A modern chiller can operate either as a closed loop system or as an open loop as an option. The closed loop eliminates water loss through evaporation as well as eliminating bacteria and algae growth. Use of closed loop cooling systems allows precise control of production quality and time.
A correctly designed chiller will have a frost free in-tank evaporator providing the lowest operating costs available.
Correct installation is paramount to optimum performance. The chiller must be far enough from any wall to allow service. A correctly designed air cooled chiller will use a top-discharge configuration.
An air cooled chiller will have a filter over the cooling air inlet thus preventing entry of most dust and debris.
Filling of the buffer tank and the introduction of glycol or other required coolant additives requires space around the unit.
