Air Pipe System Repairs

Only qualified technicians should perform compressed air piping repairs.

System drawings are essential in the case of a complex system. Especially if the piping is not easily visible in it’s entirety.

If the system is readily visible, drawings may not be required.

Isolation valves installed during construction (as they would be in a correctly designed system) will facilitate the depressurization of the segment undergoing repairs.

Banded external patches are available for short term application only. The damage that caused the original failure will almost certainly expand outside the area with the temporary patch.

Lock-out/tag-out procedures must be in effect. Repressurization of a system under repair can result in injury or death.

Safety dictates the use of harnesses or restraints when working from a man lift or a personnel cage used with a fork truck.
