Using a desiccant bed sized to handle an entire shift worth of airflow results in zero loss of compressed air. When there is no loss of compressed air there is no wasted energy, thereby lowering the cost of operation.
The single tower air dryer by EAP uses a single external blower move heated ambient air to reactivate the desiccant. This results in abbreviated regenerative times. It uses the adsorption method to remove moisture from compressed air. The directed flow of saturated compressed air over a bed of desiccant results in dew points as low as -400F. Resulting in rugged. long lived desiccant and increased service intervals.
The most commonly used desiccant, Activated Alumina, provides, firstly, a consistent size and shape. And secondly, extreme surface to mass ratio. Physically tough and chemically inert, we contain this material in an ASME (100 SCFM & larger) pressure vessel. First, the saturated compressed air flows through the adsorption tower. Secondly, its moisture content adheres to the surface of the desiccant. Resulting in the required dew point.
One of the most important considerations is the installation of any dryer. Please see this article for information regarding a successful installation.
